Brass Care Guide

Brass brings a warm, gleaming detail to pieces like Dhumra, our incense burner. With a little occasional care, brass keeps its character for years to come.

Cleaning

Clean brass occasionally using a soft cloth with a natural brass cleaner, or a simple mix of lemon and salt, or tamarind. Rub gently in circular motions, then dry thoroughly with a clean cloth afterward.

What to avoid

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, and don't leave brass pieces damp after cleaning, as this can encourage tarnishing. Steer clear of harsh commercial metal polishes unless they're specifically formulated for brass.

About patina

Over time, brass naturally develops a patina — a warmer, sometimes darker tone that builds gradually with age and use. This is a normal part of brass's character, and many people enjoy the richer look it develops rather than keeping it polished bright.
